Andrea Katz, Ed. D.
Certificated Special Education Advocate for San Diego County
In 2010, I began a career in advocacy after 25 years of classroom experience as a special education teacher, and obtaining my Doctorate in Education. I am a Certificated Special Education Advocate. I have the experience and the education to help you navigate the special education services in your district of residence. I believe successful results are obtained through good communication, diligence, attention to detail, knowledge of educational law and research, use of organizational and time-management strategies, and the kind-hearted passion to reach out and help a family pursue their goals.
If your child is struggling with school, I can help you before, during, and after your child’s Special Education Eligibility.
More about me... and how I can help you!
I am an educator, born and bred.
I strive to educate you, as my client, to feel fully supported and newly empowered at any upcoming school interactions. You won’t be alone in your efforts!
I believe in the advocacy of all students.
I work with you to improve the quality of your child’s individual educational experience. Advocacy begins your child’s strengths and needs. When eligible for special education services, the planned educational program must be a personal good-fit to your child current levels.
I am compassionate and dedicated to each family and their child.
Only after listening to YOUR unique situation with your child’s school programming, and hearing YOUR primary concerns, will WE develop an action plan to move forward in our advocacy efforts.
I develop professional relationships in the special education community.
I prioritize my professionalism as I work with special education leaders in various school districts. When needed for my clients, I collaborate with special education attorneys and Independent Educational Evaluators.
I am a life-long learner who believes in research and data.
I continue to read the literature on special education effective practices. I keep current with special education laws and policies. I can refer you to online webinars and websites that are beneficial to your growth as a parent advocate.
